Practical Application Of 3d Printing Rubber Prototypes

Inventors, designers, and architects from all disciplines are well-versed in the purpose of an initial design. Any product, especially a mechanical one, has just such a humble start, and the prototypes are created from that. This is very true also with new technologies, and designers are learning to utilize 3d printing rubber prototypes.

The manufacturing industry is on its head, and it well should be since this technology could actually render the old style of manufacturing completely obsolete. The shopping activities we all engage in to a varying extent will become the shopping of yesterday. It is impossible to even imagine what the fashion world will be like when everyone is able to create their own styles from at home.

When rummaging around the world of engineering, we see that prototypes represent that initial design that the experts use for testing and perfecting their idea. If and when they believe that this design is exactly what they want, then the prototypes become the template to manufacture the device. With the modern technological printer madness, one can go from idea to test subject to final manufacture all within the comfort of a home office.

At first glance it would appear that this change might create a more environmentally-friendly world. However, these items are all being made from plastics and rubber at our current level of tech. As everyone knows, the creation of rubbers and plastics pollutes, and the items discarded do not biodegrade, but become a permanent part of the landscape of garbage heaps everywhere.

The Internet has displayed photographs of everything from clothing to musical instruments made with this technology. This smacks of endless possibilities that boggle the mind and can put a little fear into the heart. However, they have allowed parents to make robotic limbs for their amputee children, so like all new technologies, the dagger has two edges.

There are some who claim that the rubber clothing will never be a big seller, so the technology is not going to replace all old-world manufacturing. Those saying such a thing were clearly not around during the jelly shoes fad back in the eighties. They were a rubbery-plastic that were uncomfortable and made your feet stink, but everyone had to have them.

There are some synthetic cloths which use a great deal of plastic and rubbery-type material in order to make the cloth stretchy. As human beings continue to experiment with all possibilities, new applications for the technology are discovered almost daily, and some of those discoveries are being made for Middle School Science Fairs. When you see the medical community discovering that they can utilize these printers to synthesize cells and DNA, you realize there are no limits to possibility.

Many of us are a little frightened at the notion that there may be very few people needed to run the machines, and a gigantic population of people who are not needed in the workplace. The potential for this to happen does exist. On the other hand, it may free us all up to pursue our dreams and achieve our best potential.
