This Grower Will Not Plant Without Dutch Greenhouse Fans In Use

Gardeners who have been at it for a while understand the necessity of air flow to achieve a successful winter crop inside their growing space. Temperature and humidity are key factors, and need to be maintained evenly throughout the winter. The best method for maintaining the balance involves the utilization of Dutch greenhouse fans.

When humidity rises above 80% inside a growing room, diseases have an opportunity to take hold and run rampant throughout. This is especially true with soft-leaf plants like tomatoes that do not like to be moist all the time. Development of bacteria or mold inside a growing space means death for the plants and can be very difficult to get rid of once it takes hold.

While most gardeners utilize their growing space primarily during winter, there are some areas where that is the only way one can expect to grow fruit or vegetables. Extreme northern climates where the therma-frost never fully thaws is one area, and those growers understand the risk of mold on plants when the humidity rises too high. They know they must have old air pumped out as new air is pumped in, keep it warm, and keep the humidity below 80%.

When one needs to yield a decent crop indoors, the air mixture has to be maintained, but many new growers try to cut corners. They see the initial cost as being too high, and they will sometimes attempt to improvise a make-shift system. They spend a great deal of money on the growing room itself, but by cutting corners they often have a failure to yield a crop.

Utilizing a box fan and a space heater is not adequate for many plant rooms, especially ones that are rather large. If the room is too big, and they do not have the set up adequate to maintain proper air circulation, then their first growing season will fail. If mold gets in, then it will kill everything in the room, and getting it cleaned out can be extremely difficult.

In a small growing space, one can be successful cutting corners. If the box fan is elevated to the level of the roof, so long as it points down, it can work well. Any experienced marijuana grower can show a novice how to set up such a system. The air in/air out system, with added CO2 to the environment, has seen a surge in specialty breeds of marijuana that have been developed over the past forty years.

For larger growing spaces, one can utilize old attic fans if they have such a thing at their disposal. Sometimes such an item can be found cheaply at a metal recycling center that also has a store. Pay attention to any older homes which are up for demolition as well, for they may have a fan and other items useful for creation of a growing space, and the owners may be willing to let them go for free.

When the room has an excellent air mixture, then not only will plants survive but they will thrive. One can increase the carbon dioxide level at the same time they heat the growing room if they utilize a propane heat source. The drawback is the possibility of getting contaminated propane, but increasing the CO2 levels can help plants go wild with new growth.
