It is important for all home owners to make sure that an assessment is carried out after every few years. A home inspection will allow you to know of all the problems that are currently present in that residence. In order to ensure that all areas will be covered during the assessment, it is recommended that a house be divided into sections. In the first section, one will deal with the exteriors. The second section will usually deal with everything that is inside the residence.

An assessment of the chimney area will involve looking at whether it is straight or not. A chimney that is well maintained should not be missing any bricks. In addition, it should not have any bulges along its length.

Ensure you look at the trees that are close to a house. In some cases, you may find that branches are leaning too close to the roof. If this is the case, then it will be important to make certain that the branches have been trimmed. This is to guarantee that they will not end up falling on the roof.

Once this is done, you can now disembark from the roof. Make certain to walk around the house checking the siding. As you do so, you will also be required to check whether the foundation has any cracks on it. This is an important part of the assessment process.

Once this is completed, the next step is for one to head inside the residence. While inside, it will be important for you to make certain that all windows are functional. This requires one to open and close each and every available window.

You also need to pay attention to the floors. Inspect the carpet for any signs of tear and wear. If possible, it should be pulled back in order for one to check whether the floor boards are in their proper position. This has to be done for all the rooms present in that house.

Be sure to inspect the ceiling boards in all the rooms. This is quite easy to achieve as all one has to do is look over head. If you see any watermarks, note this down as it is an indication that the roof could be leaking.

Spend sometime in the kitchen assessing the condition of the cabinets as well as the appliances. All appliances have to be switched ON and then switched OFF in order to confirm that they are working. The same should also be performed for the garbage disposal system. Once the assessment is complete, you should call in a contractor to deal with the problems that have been noted.
