Essence Of Marble Polishing Baltimore

One of the most treasured building materials is marble. It is not just in the modern world but since the ancient times. It is sought out because of its utility and beauty. It comes to being after been worked upon by pressure and heat over a long period of time. It is very durable. The areas its commonly used in include fireplace materials, flooring, tables, counters and staircases. Tough as it is, it is still susceptible to stains because of its porosity. Marble polishing Baltimore is recommended to increase the life of the places it has been used in.

The initial step in polishing marble is testing the kind. It can either be cultured or natural. If there are stains, they should be removed. They come about when substances seep to the stone and are not removed. The common causes of the stains are spills form cooking oils, wine, sauces and coffee. If the spills are wiped immediately, the stains will not form. For the simple stains, a soft cloth dipped in lukewarm water is all it takes to remove them. Dish soap can be used if need be.

After the stains are gone you can now begin the polishing. Take care not to scratch the surface. This will cause bigger damages. A dust mop or a clean and dry cloth can be used to remove the grit, dust and dirt. Any grime present should be washed away using warm water and a soft cloth. Dish soap can also be used if necessary but ensure that its mild. After this, the surface should be rinsed and wiped dry.

For natural marble, the polishing is done by application of a paste made from mixing three tablespoons of baking soda with one liter of water. Five hours from the application time, wiping can be done. Warm water is needed to rinse the surface.

Buffing follows. It is done with a chamois cloth or soft microfiber garment. The motions must be circular. A sealant could be added at this stage. This is not a must though. It does not protect the surface from staining but it will protect the marble surface. Sealants are found in many household stores and also hardware.

Cultured marble is easy to clean because it comes with a protective coat. This makes it hard to scratch. It does not get damaged easily too. This is not a leeway to get reluctant in taking care of it though. It still needs care and attention.

The cultured type should be washed using nylon bristled brush and a household cleaner which is non-abrasive. If there are hard stains which are present, white vinegar should be sprayed and given forty minutes before wiping it off. The rinsing must be with a moist rag and plain water.

The polish compound used in polishing the cultured marble should have been designed specifically for this purpose. The instructions on the package must be adhered to. Car carnauba wax can also be used in polishing cultured marble. Polishing products which are gel in nature can be used for sealing.
